çhâñt élečtrónïqùe is an international collective of producers and singers who explore the potentialities
of traditional music and electronics. Coming from Portugal, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, France
and Ireland, they first met in Portugal in 2019 for a collective rumination on transitioning the
boundaries of their own individual cultural heritage.
The group’s debut album “chant electronique vol.1” was released in November 2020 on Londonbased independent label Rika Muzika and sees them combining ancient polyphonic singing traditions
with synth and computer/analog based electronic patterns and textures. On release this debut
received critical acclaim and airtime on radio shows in France, Croatia, Serbia, USA, Australia and the
UK as well as featuring on BBC, Worldwide FM, Hotel Radio Paris & KPFA.
çhâñt élečtrónïqùe have toured in Croatia (July 2021) to promote their first album and embarked on
their second tour in Portugal in October 2021 playing dates in Porto, Lisbon and Viseu. Their
performances also featured unreleased songs from their second album, already in the making, due to
be released in 2023.
as trâditioñál musicians we are interested in the potential of élečtroñics
to open new doors. to discover new ways for us to exist, to reveal new places to meet each other
in between
this is our excuse to think about
çûltùrè, trâditioñ, ïdèntîty
and discover new parts of ourselves
for the voices of the past we have respect
to the present moment of creation we are fully committed
and for the future? we are very very čúrïouš
