Welcome to The Glens Centre

The Glens Centre is a gorgeously intimate venue housed in a converted church. The performance space seats up to 140, has excellent natural acoustics and superb technical facilities. The Glens also houses recording facilities and self catering accommodation for visiting performers.
The centre hosts a wide ranging programme including the best of contemporary, world, trad, folk and jazz music as well as a feast of theatre, readings, children’s events and world cinema.

WOODY PINES (USA)
Last time North Carolina band Woody Pines toured over here, reviewers unanimously declared them to be one of the most entertaining acts on the Americana circuit.

 This summer the four-piece returns for their biggest ever UK and Ireland tour to date, and promising once more to deliver what The Scotsman declared was “a rollicking and engagingly idiosyncratic” show.

 

Maverick magazine has praised their “intoxicating blend of rural and urban stringband, country blues, ragtime and jug band music”, and after they appeared before him at the big Nelsonville Folk & Blues Festival, Billy Joe Shaver, the top gun Outlaw Country legend came on stage and declared: “They’re the best damn band I’ve ever heard!”

Legendary radio presenter ‘Whispering’ Bob Harris is a fan and after playing tracks from their last album, Counting Alligators, told listeners to his BBC Radio 2 show, he thought they were “superb”.
