Read all about the Leitrim Cycling Festival!

Leitrim Cycling Festival is upon us next weekend so what’s it all about?
It’s all about community and encouraging people to get out and about, to do fun things together through activities, arts, drama, walking and cycling!
There are lots of things going on this weekend, on Friday night at the Glens Centre, there will be 2 speakers, Mary Russell talking about her travels by foot and by bike through very interesting places, particularly Syria before the war, and William Bennett speaking about his 3 year round the world trip on his bicycle. Friday night there is camping available in the town so why not consider a night under the stars!
Then Saturday Manorhamilton will be host to cycling, printing, obstacle course navigation, cycling for beginners, a Heritage Walk around the town, the ‘Scary go Round’, the ‘Camper van of Sound’ and lots more…., There will be fun to be had for all age groups so families will be well entertained and can try their hand at painting bicycle tattoos and printing with bicycle tires!!
Then off to Dromahair for the evening, camping, enjoy the local pubs and restaurants then try a bit of dancing at the cross roads, where there will be live music and dance to celebrate ‘bonfire night’.
The following morning enjoy a breakfast barbecue, wake up in your tent to the smell of sizzling sausages and following a hearty breakfast we should be well set up for the Great Greenway Cycling Circus Carnival, where everyone is encouraged to dress up in circus style and come to the greenway at 2pm for an hilarious and quirky drama about a woman who cannot cycle!!! And a fancy dress competition!
There will be a panel of expert circus judges to parade past en route to Edergole Cottage along the ‘demo stretch’ where there will be theatre, a brass band, dancing, tea and buns, slow bicycle races in circus costume and lots more!!!!
Sooooo, what else would you be at this weekend in your local community?
Non stop fun and activity all weekend encouraging us all to get out and connect with our neighbours and friends and visitors traveling from afar to join us to celebrate our rich, vibrant and beautiful area.
‘Cycle on down’!!!!
‘Ar do rothar’!
